A small organization doing direct work.
Mothers 2 Mothers is based in Renton, Washington and works alongside families in Ethiopia. We are not large, and we are not trying to be. We are trying to be useful.
This began with a family, not a strategy.
Mothers 2 Mothers exists because of a conviction that a mother, given real support at the right moment, will do more with it than any program designed on her behalf. She already knows what her family needs. What she lacks is the means.
So the work started the only way it could: directly. Sitting in homes. Sharing meals. Listening to what families said they needed rather than assuming we knew. That is still how every decision gets made.
We are a small organization with a long horizon. The near term work is emergency assistance for specific families. The long term work is building the kind of local economy that makes emergency assistance unnecessary.
Depth over breadth.
Ethiopia is a country of remarkable resilience where the gap between effort and opportunity remains punishing. Families work relentlessly and still cannot reach the basics, because the systems that would let them are not there.
We concentrate here rather than spreading across many countries because the kind of change we are pursuing requires presence. Land, agriculture, healthcare, and local enterprise cannot be built at a distance or managed from a spreadsheet.
Going deep in one place will do more than going wide in ten.
That focus is a deliberate constraint. It keeps us close to the families we serve and honest about what we can actually deliver.
What we hold ourselves to.
Trust in this sector is earned through restraint as much as ambition. These are the standards we operate under.
- We do not publish numbers we cannot verify.
- Every figure on this site is either a stated goal, clearly labeled, or a result we can substantiate. We would rather show an empty column than a flattering estimate.
- We work directly with families we know.
- There is no intermediary between a gift and the household it reaches. We sit in these homes, we know these names, and we are accountable to them first.
- We report what we said we would do.
- Our commitments are published in advance so progress can be measured against something specific rather than described in general terms.
- We keep overhead deliberately small.
- This is a lean organization by design. The work is direct, the structure is simple, and the majority of what comes in goes out to families and infrastructure.
Structure and status.
We are early in our formal development and would rather say so plainly than imply an institutional footprint we have not yet built.
Leadership
Leadership and board information will be published here as our governance structure is formalized. We will name people when there are people to name.
Charitable status
We are working toward formal charitable status. Until it is granted, we will not describe gifts as tax deductible.
Reporting
Verified results will be published on the impact page as they are confirmed, against the commitments we stated in advance.

You are welcome to ask us anything before you give.
We would rather answer questions than collect a gift someone is unsure about.
